Debra Collis is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in painting and drawing, as well as in mosaics. After graduation in Fine Art from Ruskin School of Drawing at Oxford University, she continued her studies in mosaic, portrait painting and working from life, as well as photography.
She has focussed on art teaching for many years, as well as leading and designing for large scale mosaic projects. In addition she has taken part and exhibited annually in Open Studios (Kingsgate Workshop Trust, Create Space London & BEAT Ealing Art Trail) & a recent residency in Italy with FIAF. She has also completed various portrait commissions and her work has been sold at auction.
Recently, after spending more time with a paint brush out plein aire painting, she has rekindled a passion for the medium and its potential for self expression both working from sketches in the studio and life. She is influenced by artists Soutine, Bonnard and Bomberg to name a few as well as more contemporary female Northern artists such as Joan Eardley and Sheila Fell.
